Steller’s sea lion
Not stellar. It’s OK to call them Steller sea lions. Named for German naturalist George Steller. A large member of the seal family, bigger than a harbor seal, smaller than a walrus. Their western population is federally listed as threatened; that includes around Kodiak and down the chain.
