trawl (fishing method)

Not the same as trolling.

Also known as dragging. Trawling is a method of fishing that involves pulling a fishing net through the water behind a boat. The net that is used for trawling is called a trawl, and the pouch at it’s apex where the fish wind up is the “cod end.” Trawls can be made midwater (pelagic) or on the bottom (benthic).
